What you will be doing in this role: Under direct supervision, the Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for retrieval and decontamination of soiled instruments, containers and case carts. Completes sterile processing tasks pertaining to the inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, sterilizing and delivery of instruments and other reusable medical devices according to departmental policies and industry best practice standards. Works closely with end user departments for supplies and equipment and maintains established inventory levels of sterile instrumentation/supplies. Inspects and identifies instruments needing repair by following established repair procedures. Demonstrates an understanding and awareness of quality control/assurance expectations for sterile processing operations. Education, Certification and Experience Sought: High School diploma or GED required. Up to 1 year in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience including decontamination, wrapping, sterilization and infection control of basic instrumentation. Excellent spoken and written and English communication skills, including using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Use of independent judgment and initiative within established policies and procedures. Physical Demands:The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters when successfully performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Able to stand or walk 75% of the time and push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs. Exercises care in lifting and handling equipment and surgical instrument trays.
