Job description: The purpose of the position is to support our ongoing research in the area of T cell biology and cancer immunotherapy. The overall objective is to decipher mechanisms that will promote robust CD8 T cell-mediated anti-tumor activity. Additional projects will include testing of T cell adoptive transfer therapies in mouse models for cancer treatment. The ideal candidate will work well in a highly collaborative environment to help achieve group-defined goals and benchmarks. Success in the position will require a strong work ethic, capacity to work independently, dedication to teamwork, ability to learn new techniques, a thoughtful approach to experimental design and troubleshooting, flexibility to change scientific or technical course, and strong organization and oral and written communication skills. Projects will include close collaboration with our partners in other departments at the University, and industrial partners with whom we are working to effectively combine immunotherapies with novel interventions and medical device technology.
Responsibilities Essential duties will involve working with laboratory mice including maintaining breeding colonies, performing injections and/or minor surgery, isolation of mouse tissues, tissue processing, flow cytometry, cell culture, biochemical and molecular biological procedures, maintaining laboratory and research records, and participating and presenting in group meetings.
The job responsibilities will require expertise with performing injections into mice, performing minor surgery, conducting tissue and cell isolations, mammalian cell transductions and maintaining and characterizing lab cell cultures, and routine use of flow cytometry. Candidates with demonstrated experience in these areas such as working with laboratory mice, multi-color flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy, histology, and/or deriving and maintaining mammalian cell cultures will be strongly considered.
