We are currently seeking a Lead Software Test Engineer to support the development of new digital solutions for healthcare. This role may be based either in Irvine CA, or virtually within Orange County in Southern California (with weekly onsite visits). Candidates from other parts of the US working 100% remote will also be considered.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
You will lead the comprehensive testing and quality assurance efforts for a suite of next generation mobile-based hospital operating room safety and efficiency software applications. You will work closely with peers in software development, Advanced Quality Engineering (AQE) and project and product management to develop testing methods and test software that meets customer and system requirements. Following defined software testing principles, you will ensure that both the user facing application software and the cloud-based background software products are safe, robust and user friendly. This role will lead, mentor, and motivate a mainly offshore project specific test team to ensure the team conducts rigorous testing throughout the software development process. The successful candidate will leverage strong experiences in quality assurance and testing practices to provide thought leadership at project, program, and organizational levels.
Work closely and collaboratively within a new product development team using established company procedures for Agile Software Development in a fast-paced team environment
Direct the work of a mainly offshore project specific QA team / test team and possibly directs the work of automation test engineers
Create a positive atmosphere within the QA team / test team. Build enthusiasm and team morale, engage in discussions of technology & test approaches/solutions with the team, and establish team vision and objectives
Achieve time-to-market objectives, and meet product and project cost targets while satisfying product quality goals
Develop, maintain, and communicate effective and efficient testing strategies, test objectives, test methods, and test plans
Participate in software test planning and estimating activities on a macro (e.g. block diagram from project start to finish) up to a micro level (task level on a day by day basis for the sprints)
Estimate testing resources required and negotiates with project management in providing them
Manage the deployment and maintenance of automation and manual testing frameworks
Manage and select QA / testing tools & processes
Ensure the test environment has been constructed properly (possibly in synergy with Dev-Ops engineers)
Provide configuration management of technologies used in testing
Maintain and develop QA and testing documentation throughout all phases of design development and change control
Follow the company's standards for code development and quality process and comply with quality management system procedures
Identify root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements
WHAT YOU NEED:
B.S. in computer science, computer engineering, or related engineering curriculum.
5 years of industry experience in professional software development and/or software testing experience in testing mobile native and web applications is preferred
Experience with hands on software QA testing is required, and experience with leading software test teams is a plus
Experience in medical device software development or testing practices is a plus
Knowledge of (and preferably experience with) software development tools such as JIRA, Azure Dev Ops (ADO), and/or Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS)
Knowledge of (and preferably experience with) industry standard manual and automated testing methodologies such as the testing pyramid / testing automation pyramid, Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) - "given-when-then" format, and/or Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Knowledge of (and preferably experience with) one or more modern test application frameworks/stacks such as Eclipse IDE, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Test manager, and/or Selenium
