Our location in Sylmar (CA), Scottsdale (AZ), or another CRM site currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Category Procurement Excellence.
We are seeking a talented and experienced category manager to join our team at Abbott Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Division. This position will be responsible for driving implementation of Category Management process improvements and best practices in alignment with department leaders.
The ideal candidate will leverage their Category Management, Supplier Performance Management and/or Technical expertise, coupled with their leadership and communication skills to facilitate engagement on identification of new business opportunities, process improvements, and cost efficiencies. Experience within Medical Devices or highly regulated industries required. Experience within electronics or mechanical components preferred.
The successful candidate will be naturally curious; possess a continuous improvement mentality; and be able to manage multiple workstreams/initiatives. Due to high exposure to Senior Leaders across the CRM Division and across Abbott, expectations will be high. In the future, this role may have direct reports and/or category responsibilities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Champions implementation of Category Management process improvements and best practices uniformly across the department.

Aligns Category Management resources through enhanced business planning to drive strategic engagements with key stakeholders within R&D, Engineering, Program Management, and Operations. Facilitates two-way communication and Voice of Stakeholders to ensure overall alignment with division strategy.
Leverages Category Management expertise to organize and lead various cost reduction sessions (e.g. cross-functional strategy sessions; product cost breakdowns; and gap analysis to support Cost Glides or year over year cost reduction initiatives).
Responsible for coordination, engagement, and execution of associated activities.
Implements standard work tools and owns process workflows of key business activities requiring critical output in support of overall Category Management Roadmap and/or key initiatives at the division or Global Procurement levels.
Monitors appropriate financial tracking of Category Management Roadmap through collaboration with department analyst.
Ensures category strategy execution includes all direct materials within category roadmap lifecycle.
Builds and implements overall Supplier Performance Management process for Direct Materials in collaboration with team and key stakeholders. Establishes appropriate cadence for strategic supplier business reviews and/or supplier workshops/forums. Employs best practices including, but not limited to: inclusion of Voice of Stakeholders, key performance metrics, leading indicators, action plans, and supplier innovation.
Measures and tracks overall Supplier Performance Management process to ensure implementation effectiveness and consistency.
Manages initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures. Represents Category Management function in various meetings (e.g. Site GMI Meetings, Global Procurement Forums, etc.)
This role may have direct report or category responsibility in the future.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelors Degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience
5-8 year track record within procurement and supply chain management. Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable.
5-8 years of Procurement and /or deep Category experience.
Some functional experience.
Strong project management skills.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills International experience.
Some knowledge of markets by regions Some experience with Supplier management.
Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.
Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management.
Deep knowledge of category technologies and products.
Strong negotiating skills Some experience leading teams.
Master or MBA degree
