Our location in Lake County has an opportunity for a Quality, Regulatory, Engineering Domain Architect
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Domain Architect will work with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets to identify the required capabilities, define the short-term and long-term strategy and implementation plans required for the organization to achieve the long-term strategic objectives.
The Domain Architect will develop the technical domain architectures and application portfolio, data needs, and align to the approved/agreed upon common and differentiation domain business processes the global business process manager, including exception and exception review/approval process. The Domain Architect will develop and own Abbott's blueprint / roadmap in partnership with the Process Manager for their respective domain globally across all divisions and functions.
For large projects with new capabilities and tools, the Domain Architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, working with senior management and technical specialists across functional disciplines to oversee the solution implementation. Coach solution architect and technical specialists in plan/build/run organization on enterprise architecture and business capability driven methodology. Develop the global enterprise architectural governance and processes for managing the enterprise domain solutions, and capability portfolio. Align the enterprise portfolio with domain business application needs and objectives. Consult on major systems strategies and implementations that are routine in nature if requested.
Core Job Responsibilities
Develop/Review enterprise architecture strategy for responsible domain to ensure adequacy and concurrency. Ensure the enterprise architecture and portfolio balances the requirements of the business strategy and process with the requirements of Abbott Information Technology. Proactively evaluate and recommend enterprise architecture and technology evolution based on technology and business trends. Specify enterprise architecture approach and standards. Provide strategic perspective and alignment, lead governance efforts and architecture reviews, and contribute to various methodologies in use.
Provide strategic consultancy support to senior business/IT stakeholders in enterprise/global aspects of enabling technologies to meet business strategic needs. Provide expertise on enterprise architecture design or improvement. Consider the capability, security, and performance impact of the architecture.
Conduct investigation activity/research and give technical advice to the adoption or integration of new technologies and their business impact. Performs technical oversight of implementation projects to assure alignment with architecture and technology standards. Collaborates with the hardware, network and database architects in application design and implementation.
Works closely with product vendors ensuring strategic and architectural fit, and ability of product to scale in order to meet Abbott requirements. Works on projects and support that could impact up to 60,000 Abbott employees and multimillion-dollar projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or equivalent
At least 10 years of successful experience in a variety of IT roles including technical, application development, business systems, and data management. At least 3 years managing projects.
Experience with architecting enterprise solutions as an enterprise architect or related role.
Experience working in regulated industry and concepts of Systems Validation and Qualification
Requires strong communications and interpersonal skills to effectively provide and receive information relative to assigned projects
Requires strong organization skills and excellent problem-solving skills to handle changing priorities, and tight schedules
Experience presenting and collaborating with senior functional business leader and Business Processes Mapping/Management
Ability to lead others to follow specific processes and programs
Ability to work independently, self-directed
Excellent research, synthesis and documentation skills
Able to operate in ambiguous situations and take the leadership to seek clarity
Openness to new ideas, new ways of thinking
Global work experience desirable
Willingness to challenge the existing processes, methods, products and services of the company
