This staff position functions as a liaison between the MA State Newborn Screening Laboratory, Primary Care Physicians and the Metabolism Program at Boston Children's Hospital. The goal is to streamline the referral process for infants with abnormal newborn screens and to improve communication between the different key stakeholders.
The Genetic Counseling Assistant will be responsible for:
Coordinating newborn screening referrals with the MA State Newborn Screening Laboratory, Primary Care Physicians and the Metabolism Program
Tracking the status of referrals regarding timeliness of appointments, confirmatory test results and closure
Overseeing the newborn screening referral database
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's of Science degree is required
Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Good communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills necessary to interact with patients and their families
Strong Microsoft Office skills
High attention to detail
This position is part-time 4 hours/day 12p-4pm, Monday - Friday.
