What you will do
Join a dynamic, growing team in a fast-paced and team oriented environment where engineering excellence matters. Collaborate with cross-functional and industry experts to design and develop novel and iterative market leading technologies. Core responsibilities of this role include:
Utilize polymer science fundamentals and applied knowledge of polymeric materials for the purposes of material selection, characterization, processing, testing and failure analysis
Uses engineering principles and techniques in related engineering areas such as strength of materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, statistics, IP, test method development, medical device design, process technology, engineering analyses (CFD, FEA, Multi-Physics, etc), Design of Experiments, clinical and pre-clinical med device design standards / regulations while working on assigned projects and solving problems.
Understands, analyzes, and troubleshoots and selects techniques to solve very complex problems and make sound design recommendation. Leverages external network and expertise to resolve technical problems.
Works with appreciable latitude for independent action or decision. Self-manages time, completes all tasks with minimal guidance. Influences design direction across a project(s).
Understands cross-functional roles & responsibilities as outlined by the Quality System and achieves communal goals of R&D projects.
Develops existing vendors and assesses new vendors. Helps resolve vendor issues as needed and identifies need for dual sourcing.
Performs as a Core Team Member for NPD and Product Design Change projects and as Technical Team Member for TDP projects, working collaboratively with others to achieve business objectives.
Train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.
What you need
B.S. degree in engineering or applicable technical field (mechanical or biomedical preferred) (M.S. or/and Ph.D. in Engineering or related field preferred)
8+ years of medical device design and development experience.
3+ years' experience working as a polymer engineer or polymers scientist
Proven track record of collaborating with others to design and develop high priority medical technologies
