Implement improved supplier quality management processes driving a culture of continuous improvement to support Stryker's mission & strategic goals. The supplier quality management processes will include supplier monitoring and targeted improvements. Improvements will be implemented using industry known improvement methodologies such as continuous improvement, lean/six sigma, audit and a variety of problem-solving tools to further develop quality capability within the Stryker Global Supply base.
Collaborate with sourcing, development groups, internal customers, key stakeholders and suppliers to support supplier quality issues, provide technical support for activities related to supplier quality system assessment and performance evaluations.
Key objectives in this role are:
(1) Build with the suppliers you work with a stronger supply base with improved product quality to protect our customers and plants
(2) Significantly reduce the cost linked to quality issues (Defects, NC's, CAPA's, Escapes, PFA's, Holds) within your ownership areas
(3) Support developing a culture of continuous improvement within Stryker's supply base winning for our suppliers, our sites and our customers
Key Areas of Responsibility
Own Supplier Continuous Improvement related CAPA's ensuring effective use of appropriate problem-solving tools.
Provide education and training to suppliers as necessary.
Support tracking and reporting of KPI and other metrics associated with supplier performance.
Articulate detailed supplier performance results and trends to appropriate levels of management.
Perform detailed process reviews at supplier's manufacturing site.
Assess and critique supplier process control documentation, identifying areas of improvement and driving improvement within the suppliers QMS.
Communicate effectively to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Maintain and track to completion closure of assigned supplier action items.
Collaborate with external/internal teams and stakeholders to prioritize supplier-initiated change requests.
Develop and drive completion of personal development plans (IDP).
Support PMO projects and initiatives.
Develop relationships with suppliers and internal cross functional partners.
Identify and execute on cost reduction opportunities through quality improvements at suppliers.
Participate in supplier audits, as required.
Analyze non-conformance data to prioritize projects and to solve systemic supplier issues.
Execute pro-active supplier site visits.
Transfer "lessons learned" from the supply base back to R&D for incorporation into next generation designs.
Provide problem solving expertise at supplier locations in support of critical quality issues.
Train, mentor and assist in the development of less experienced engineers.
Propose and develop effective quality improvement plans to be implemented at appropriate suppliers.
Provide support to 3rd Party Audits relating to Supplier CAPA's.
May act as a single point of contact for Strategic Business Partners and in some cases for Strategic Suppliers.
Serve as a subject matter expert, for assigned commodity; share expertise within global Stryker organization.
Lead or Oversee project portfolio of supplier improvement activities.
Collaborate with external/strategic partners to identify companywide opportunities for supplier improvement.
Oversee processes as a process owner and drive standardization of GSQ-related processes such as Supplier Monitoring etc
Education / Work Experience
Bachelor of Science in engineering or engineering related discipline required
Minimum of 4 years relevant quality experience in Medical Device, Pharma, Automotive or Aerospace industry
Experience in quality management systems is essential
ISO-13485 Lead Auditor certification or equivalent preferred
Experience working onsite developing / managing suppliers preferred
Knowledge / Competencies

Thorough knowledge of current regulations, pertinent regulatory guidance and industry trends
Critical thinking and strong analytical skills / problem solving skills
Must have experience in using PFMEA's, Control Plans, & Process Flows
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple project workloads
Demonstrated experience with trending, statistics and analysis reporting
Good knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
Good knowledge of lean tools and concepts. Demonstrated the ability to apply lean concepts throughout a manufacturing operation to improve quality.
Demonstrated knowledge of adverse event reporting, complaint investigation, CAPA, and corrective action processes
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, etc. generally involves sitting most of the time
Must be able to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, fax machine, telephone, etc.)
Regular travel to supplier facilities required, up to 70% of time
