We have an opportunity for a Senior Accountant based in Kansas City, MO.As a part of the Workplace accounting team, this person will be a vital part of the business unit's accounting operations including procure-to-pay and record-to-report processes. The main area's of responsibility will include the accounting operations for multiple business units including a software and service business, a laboratory business, an international business unit as well as developing process improvement strategies, implementation of accounting technologies and accounting workflows.
This person will also perform a variety of complex duties in general accounting such as analyzing accounts, preparing reports, reconciling intercompany accounts, performing the monthly financial close and consolidation, initiating bank transfers, overseeing the procurement function, maintaining fixed assets and CIP, and maintaining & performing software interfaces.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This individual will be an experienced, capable, and key contributor to the Accounting Department, with an ability to handle accounting responsibilities for a wide variety of topics with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy. Primary duties include:
Accounting Entries: Prepare journal entries for monthly and quarterly close related to specifically assigned processes including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, capitalized software, fixed assets, inventory, accounts payable, and a variety of accruals.
Reconciliations and Review: Reconcile and/or review assigned G/L accounts to ensure accuracy and identify/resolve discrepancies. Procurement: Ensure all purchases are in-line with the purchasing policy and approved supplier list policy. This includes obtaining the necessary approvals for purchases, the creation of purchase orders and the addition of new suppliers to the approved supplier list.
Audit: Assist with preparation for external auditor quarterly, interim, or annual procedures.
Process Improvement: Assist in identifying and implementing improvement in both manual and IT dependent accounting processes.
Internal Controls: Suggest and implement ideas to improve and maintain financial and accounting controls and play an integral role in the Company's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Supervision and Mentoring: Provide oversight and mentoring to less experienced accounting staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience and at least 2 years of general ledger experience
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Licensed Certified Public Accountant
Diverse professional background including a combination of private and public experience
Experience working in healthcare, manufacturing, or technology
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Navision, SAGE, or the HFM suite of products
Experience working with budgets and forecasts
Extensive experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
