Abbott Point of Care is a global leader in providing critical medical diagnostic and data management products for rapid blood analysis that are intuitive, reliable, and cost-effective. Our i-STAT System is an advanced, portable diagnostic tool that provides real-time, lab-quality results within minutes to accelerate patient-care decision-making. The i-STAT System has the industry's most comprehensive menu of tests in a single bedside platform, including tests for blood gases, electrolytes, chemistries, coagulation, hematology, glucose, cardiac markers and traumatic brain injury (TBI). By delivering lab-quality results in minutes, our i-STAT System fosters a collaborative, patient-centered environment while driving improved operational performance.
Our location in Princeton, NJ currently has an opportunity for a Director, Strategic Partnerships. The Director will manage all strategic partnerships for the Abbott Point of Care division including distribution, in-licensing, alliances and outlicensing arrangements. In addition, the Director will work in conjunction with Abbott Corporate Business Development on any potential acquisition targets. Beyond the leadership of strategic partnerships, the Director will serve as the primary external opportunity lead and advocate in portfolio committee decision making and innovation board decision making (e.g., build vs. buy decisions).
To be successful, this role will be highly collaborative external to Abbott Point of Care engaging routinely with mature companies and start-ups in the space and collaborative with internal stakeholders leveraging insights across functions to shape strategy and execution.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Understand the strategic landscape leveraging insights from market research, competitive intelligence, and others
Manage the Deal Flow process for Abbott Point of Care collaboratively across the organization
Evaluate new leads from all sources
Assess strategic fit of potential partnerships
Lead cross-functional team deep dives and reviews
Determine potential deal structures and trade-offs with a strong view of financial performance of alternatives
Negotiate terms & conditions
Oversee execution & implementation of negotiated agreements
Conduct quarterly and ad hoc business reviews with partners under agreement (alliance management)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
B.A., B.S., or M.S. degree preferably in a technical field (e.g., biological or chemical sciences)
An MBA from a top tiered school is preferred
At least 10 years of experience in healthcare is needed with background in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics or devices.
Exceptional cross-functional exposure including strategy, marketing, sales, project management, R&D, clinical, regulatory, legal/IP, etc.
Positions held requiring negotiating skills is a must
Demonstrated analytical skills related to financial modeling, market analytics, ongoing performance.
Ability to navigate complex multi-layered relationships with successful outcomes

Initiative and self-motivation; strong work ethic; leadership and team orientation; strong proactive interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with others; ability to work in a matrixed environment, strong cross-functional management by influence.
