Reporting to the System VP, Laboratory, the Director, Laboratory IS (LIS) will develop and maintain the information strategy for each operating laboratory department, ensuring consistency with BSWH strategic plans for both Laboratory and Pathology Information Systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the delivery and maintenance of all LIS affecting the operating user department in concert with Departmental of Pathology business to include: - Needs analysis - System planning including any required interfaces - Assistance for system selection, reflecting alternatives to build or buy, as well as automated or manual - Preparation of work proposals for operating departments as well as requests for proposals (RFP) for outside vendors - Installation management, including CLIA Director approval and vendor/user coordination - Evaluation of system customization - Lead system audits - Lead system user education and training activities - Oversee system documentation - Identify benefit realization evaluations - Coordinate system utilization review - Oversee system security maintenance - Prioritize LIS projects - Represent Enterprise Laboratory as Operational Advocate, coordinating and planning for lab related projects Work with Information Technology teams for system maintenance: - User hardware acquisition, installation and preventative maintenance - Mainframe hardware equipment capacity utilization - Definition of back-up/recovery and other computer operations procedures - Change control/problems management of changes to hardware or software Project Management: - Successfully manage concurrent projects throughout BSWH for the Department of Pathology - Maintain communication for LIS topics on an Enterprise level for BSWH - Provide input into Policies and Procedures related to Laboratory requirements - Manage staffing levels , select and hire. Conduct annual performance reviews. - Develop budget for LIS across BSWH - Compliance - Is knowledgeable of and ensures internal compliance with applicable standards and external regulatory agencies on behalf of the laboratories (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO) - Perform annual review of all policies and procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred - 5 years of related experience - Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technologist preferred
