This position is located in Pathology and Laboratory Service at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. The medical technologist meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. He/She consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner and provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. He/She handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. Major Duties Comprehensive knowledge of professional medical technology/clinical laboratory science principles, practices, concepts, and theories providing for sound independent work. Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory quality control and quality improvement procedures and principles providing for sound independent work. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation. Ability to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results. Ability to interpret and apply complex written instructions. Ability to communicate, consult, and interact with other peers in the department, clinicians, and other members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service, and patient education. Work Schedule: Su-Sa 8:00am-4:30pm, 9:00am-5:30pm, 10:00am-6:30pm, 12pm-12am, Rotating Weekends Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
