The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Regis College seeks an Adjunct Lecturer for the spring 2022 semester specializing in Biomedical Engineering to teach BE 101. The course covers basic concepts of biomedical engineering and their connection with the spectrum of human activity. It serves as an introduction to the fundamental science and engineering on which biomedical engineering is based. Case studies of drugs and medical products illustrate the product development-product testing cycle, patent protection, and FDA approval. It is designed for engineering, science, and non-science majors. Classes begin January 18, 2022. This course will be taught in person on the Weston, MA campus. The lecture is currently scheduled from Monday/Friday 12:30 pm-1:45 pm. Anyone hired for this position must adhere to Regis’s current COVID guidelines and expectations, and this course will only be offered in-person.
Teach BE 101 is as a synchronous, in person lecture course.
Engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching the section: course design, direct oversight of student work, grading, office hours, overall student classroom and academic assessment.
Anyone hired for this position must be willing and able to design and implement the course components. As an undergraduate program, there are no TA's available to assist with the course.
Minimum requirement: An earned MS in Biomedical Engineering or similar with demonstrated evidence of specializations in medical devices, instrumentation and/or bioprocessing; PhD's welcome.
Demonstrated evidence of at least three years prior teaching experience (lectures and labs) at the undergraduate level; experience with designing and implementing undergraduate labs greatly desired.
Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other STEM faculty in terms of curriculum and assessment.
Demonstrated familiarity with academic assessment.
Familiarity with the learning management system Moodle is preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
