UX Designer at Abbott Diabetes Care

Our Digital Platforms Group in Alameda, CA, is looking for energetic, smart and driven individuals to join our growing UX team and design world-class, consumer grade experiences for users of the Freestyle Libre glucose monitoring system and other related services and applications.
What You'll Do
Your essential duties and responsibilities will include:
Interaction Design - Sketching, concept creation and wire framing, producing sitemaps and user flows, creating clickable prototypes. Creating beautiful mock-ups of visual designs consistent with Abbott's brand standards. Sharing your work to get feedback and iterating your work with continual review.
Design Documentation - Delivering specifications that allow the creation of consistent and highly reusable UI controls.
Process Design: Establish UX processes and design standards. Evangelize best practices across the organization. Work with product management to understand business requirements. Collaborate with UX research to gain insights and inform design decisions. Support effective UI development and quality assurance.
Planning and executing- Independently plan your work and execute against deadlines. Overcome ambiguity, anticipate issues and proactively seek out opportunities for improvement.
Bachelor's Degree in Design / Human Factors or related field plus minimum of 4 years related work experience
Alternatively: Master's degree in Design / Human Factors or related field plus minimum of 2 years related work experience
Working knowledge of design tools and product development platforms: Sketch, Figma, Abstract, Invision, JIRA, or Adobe Creative Suite
Sound knowledge of web and mobile technologies
Demonstrated application of user-centered design methodologies
An online portfolio showcasing your design process and examples of your own work or school projects
Experience using or building design systems
Strong visual design skills and working knowledge of accessibility requirements
Competency to work in and collaborate with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
Experience facilitating design sprints, quarterly or yearly planning, and team brainstorms
Work samples of creative approaches to problem solving
Excellent communication skills: The ability convey information clearly and simply, in a way that means things are understood and get done, as comfortable with sociology as they are with statistics
Attention to Detail: The desire to dive deep into customer pain points and to root cause issues before coming up with solutions
Skills in areas not limited to UX and interaction design, User Research, Website & Product Strategy, Mobile app design, Persona Creation, Journey Mapping, Usability Testing, Prototyping, Design tools
