Our location in Kansas City, MO currently has an opportunity for an Agile Project Manager II within our Toxicology business unit, to be filled in Kansas City, Richmond, VA, or remotely in the United States. The position of Agile Project Manager is a key role in serving the Development Team to resolve impediments, own and manage the Scrum and other Agile process, guard the development team, and ensure the projects/initiative goals are met. This role is responsible for project managing, training, coaching, facilitating, optimizing the environment, maintaining the project plan, and holding the team accountable to their commitments.
As an important member of an Agile environment, the Agile Project Manager is expected to cultivate, grow, and maintain core principals including, but not limited to continuous improvement, self-organization, adaptative planning, and value driven development. The Agile Project manager will possess a growth-mindset, be team-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and possess the ability to deal with ambiguity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Project Planning and Management:
Ensure the scope of the project is defined in collaboration with senior management and Product Owners
Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project with the project team/Development Team
Develop and maintain a schedule for project completion
Ensure Acceptance Criteria is understood by the team and achieved with the Product Owner
Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
Prepare and distribute progress reports as needed for Executives, management, and all concerned parties
Manage risks and issues by tracking and remediating
Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments
Track and remove impediments for the Development Team
Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for work
Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, helping to implement an effective system of project governance, and refining and managing the product backlog
Promote empowerment of the team
Ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution in coordination with the direct managers
Encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team
Promote and coach team in self-organization
Help team and individuals to clarify goals and actions to achieve commitments
Shield the team from outside distractions and interference
Conduct agile ceremonies, including but not limited to sprint planning, refinements, standups, retrospectives, and sprint demos
Identify conflicts within the team and develop a plan to resolve
Assist with internal and external communication to improve transparency and radiate information
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity, and innovation
Train, mentor and coach the Scrum Team
Assess the Maturity of the team and setting stretch goals
Participate and help lead Communities of Practice
Other duties or special projects may be assigned
Work to develop and own metrics at the team and department level to help deliver consistent value.
Manage and maintain sprint boards, team backlogs, etc in Azure Dev Ops
Where standard project management practices or Agile processes may not be warranted, be flexible and adapt industry knowledge to monitor, track and control efforts in ways that are practical
Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management
Identify, implement, and oversee process improvements, standards and procedures to project management to ensure the highest quality end product is delivered to customers
Assist and mentor other project managers in following policies and procedures within the project management area
Ensure processes within the project management area are followed in accordance to all regulations (i.e. SOX, FDA/Quality, general controls)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Work, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as organization and document skills
Bachelor of the Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or Associates in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent related work experience
4+ years of experience contributing to an Agile environment
2+ years as a Scrum Master
4+ years as a Project Manager
Working knowledge of a Task Management/Issue Tracking software (such as JIRA, TFS, Rally)
