The Schaeffer Center at the University of Southern California is seeking a Research Project Administrator to work on the Center’s Healthcare Markets Initiative research portfolio. This is a full-time, 2 year fixed-term position.

The Healthcare Markets Initiative advances market-based solutions to health policy challenges in a variety of areas including rare diseases, medical devices and mental health. It aims to address the challenge of developing appropriate incentives that will eliminate the inefficiencies of some services being too expensive and reimbursements for other services being too low.

The Project Administrator will be working as part of a multidisciplinary research team including economists, physicians, health policy scholars, data scientists and other researchers to conduct evidence-based, policy-relevant research aimed at improving healthcare market innovation. The position will be directly involved in all aspects of the research process, including idea generation, research design, research execution, publication and dissemination. The ideal candidate is one who will be at ease working in a group setting as well as working independently.

Key duties will include:

• Background research and literature reviews

• Data collection from a wide variety of sources including the web

• Data analysis

• Data presentation (including designing tables and figures for papers/reports/proposals)

• Manuscript (and other forms of communication) drafting and editing

• Grant writing

• Administrative activities related to the research process

Essential skills and characteristics include but are not limited to:

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point

• Knowledge of statistical and beta visualization software

• Attention to detail

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Interest in health, health policy, and health economics

• Ability to prioritize across multiple tasks and deliver high-quality outputs in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in health economics, public/health policy, health services research, applied mathematics/statistics or related field

Minimum Experience:

3 Years professional experience, including internships, in a social science research position with similar responsibilities.

Compensation

Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position is 100% FTE on a 2-year (renewable) fixed term.
