As a Senior Compensation Analyst at Stanford University, School of Medicine, you will play a critical role working within the Human Resources Group by collaborating with a team of professionals to contribute your expertise to the design, implementation and management of base salary and incentive plans. You will provide compensation support and customer service to Human Resources / People Operations Managers and business leaders.
JOB DUTIES
Participate in compensation and best practice benchmarking for employees, management and executives; provides reports on compensation market trends through research and analysis of formal and informal salary surveys, and other third-party vendors/research methods ensuring competitive positioning and internal equity
Design/develop incentive plans programs in collaboration with School Leadership
Provide research and analyses for purposes of developing and/or revising existing programs, policies, and/or practices; make recommendations based on analyses and assist in implementing solutions.
Provide Consultation and expert advice to resource managers and line managers in the administration of the university's compensation program on a consistent, equitable, and legally compliant basis university-wide, including reviewing exception requests and approving annual salary plans.
May serve as project lead on projects related to policy and program development and administration, including developing project plan and timetable, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
Participate in organizational design activities, complete job evaluations on new or reclassified roles, review benchmark market data, and make recommendations for salary range and job classification
In collaboration with HR team members, lead and administer the annual compensation planning process including analyzing and modeling scenarios, develops processes, tools, guidelines communications, etc.
Review job descriptions and bargaining unit specifications, apply job evaluation techniques to determine the appropriate job classification and exemption status, and independently provide recommendations to human resource managers and/or line managers on classifications.
In partnership with HR team members, develop and implement education/awareness, training, or job aids to support the company's compensation, reward, and recognition activities
Stay up-to-date and take initiative with compensation trends within and outside the industry to identify and adapt changes to current processes to minimize and/or avoid exposure to potential risks
Prepare and present job and compensation analysis.
Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Compensation Professional Certification and/ or MBA
Medical School, health care or medical device industry knowledge
Skill and experience serving a diverse client base
Skill and experience providing excellent client service in a multi-function environment
Ability to embrace new ideas; adapt and use alternate approaches to work; and support process improvement strategies in a continuing effort to optimize services.
Actively listen to and resolve client service issues with tact and diplomacy; remain proactive and positive when faced with difficult situations

Demonstrated experience and application of expert knowledge in compensation concepts and strategic objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Expertise with salary survey participation, market analysis, job evaluation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically, Word and Excel.
Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and computational/statistical skills.
Commitment to promote and sustain a culture that understands, acknowledges and celebrates differences
Effective communication (verbal and written), consultation, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of compensation practices and trends.
Strong understanding and experience in applying federal and California state and federal wage and hour regulations.

Frequently stand/walk, sit; frequently use a perform desk based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

Flexible Work Schedule: The position is a remote work from anywhere position, with travel 3-4 times per year to attend staff development event. If the position is designated as remote, Stanford Medicine will pay for travel associated with required on site activities. Additionally, a one-time stipend is granted to cover the cost of setting up your remote office space.
