The role you’ll contribute:
The Manager, Simulation Operations manages Simulation Operations Specialists and Simulation Operations Program Managers that execute operational-level simulation learning activities, simulation-based education and scenario-based training for the AdventHealth American Heart Training Center, the AdventHealth Orlando system, and associated programs/partners, including Graduate Medical Education, and AdventHealth University. Possesses operational and technical mastery in all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, implementation, hardware/software updates, and repair of all AdventHealth Medical Simulation and Training resources, such as the human patient simulator systems, simulation task trainers, associated medical equipment, and computer/audiovisual systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervision/management of staff, managing simulation programs, managing simulation operations and logistics management, market research and data collection, and simulation education support. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Manages all assigned Simulation Operations staff and team activities on a daily basis, including full human resources, cost and financial accountabilities. Responsible for performance reviews and provides input on direct reports for human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions. Attracts talent, develops staff, and implements an effective performance management process. Receives assignments and objectives and determines tactical approach, resources required, goals, and plan of action with milestones. Works within prescribed guidelines and applies technical knowledge to solve complex problems which may have long-term impact on a department. Creates an effective working environment where communication, professional development and quality are always encouraged. Maintains positive relations, acting as liaison with employees, physicians, patients and community.
Responsible for all aspects of simulation/training/exercise programs including strategic planning, execution and sustainment. Develops budgets and briefs to department leadership and stakeholders for funding approval. Oversees cost, schedule and performance of assigned programs. Responsible for budget adherence and reporting. Ensures all resources required to fulfill simulation-related programs are provided and sustained. Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, working with various departments to ensure the projects are executed smoothly according to hospital guidelines. Ability to effectively lead small and large teams of individuals in support of assigned programs and missions.
Leads the team that operates all human patient simulator systems, simulation task trainers, associated medical equipment and computer/audiovisual equipment during training exercises. Facilitates operational and technical aspects of post-exercise debriefings using various audiovisual platforms. Troubleshoots technical issues related to networking, audiovisual platforms, and/or simulation equipment. Ensures simulations/events are fully immersive and adhere to accepted best practices in simulation learning including proper room orientation, environmental realism, and application of medical moulage and simulated medical conditions to human patient simulators and/or Standardized Patients/role players.
Manages the maintenance of all assigned team equipment, including simulators and computer/audiovisual, to ensure proper working order, appropriate maintenance, warranty support, and software updates within assigned program(s). Oversees medical supply inventory procedures required to enhance the delivery of simulation learning within assigned program(s). Maintains accurate inventory of equipment (simulators, hardware and software) and supplies. Forecasts and approves supply reorders as necessary. Ensures team safely transports equipment to various locations for simulation training purposes.
Serves as an expert liaison to campuses/programs/hospital leaders for technical assistance and expertise related to operational and technical aspects of simulators and computer/audiovisual equipment for simulation learning. Provides assistance and guidance to customers for simulated learning preparation, set-up, course/scenario facilitation, and post-exercise break down/clean up. Ensures all program requirements are being met across multiple departments/service lines.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Simulation, Technology, Education, Healthcare, Business or applicable discipline.
Three (3) years of functional area experience in simulation operation/education/training, preferably with human patient simulator platforms and audiovisual equipment/operating software.
One (1) years of management/leadership experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in Simulation, Technology, Education, Healthcare, Business or applicable discipline.
Formal simulation-related education such as Master’s level certificate(s).
Five (5) years of training exercise and leadership development experience.
Five (5) years of experience in direct patient care within hospital or clinical setting.
Registered Nurse, Licensed Practice Nurse, or Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Department Technician.
Experience in healthcare, simulation and/or instruction delivery as a trainer or instructor.
College level anatomy and physiology education.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Florida Class E Driver’s License and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth Policy.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
If clinical, current, active State of Florida license in specialty.
