The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Researcher V in Anesthesiology to develop and translate lab concepts as well as design and develop prototypes and final medical devices collaborating with engineering companies. The position will test devices, assess performance at various stages of development, identify the potential problems or pitfalls and then work with the engineering team to fix them in order to achieve the project goals. The position will also generate data and analysis for software development.

General Responsibilities

• To be responsible for the overall operation of the lab.
• To oversee projects within the lab.
• To contribute to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
• To supervise a research team, direct and teach lab practices.
• To manage lab equipment and supplies.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assumes significant responsibility for the overall operation of the lab.
2. Oversees projects within the laboratory.
3. Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, develops and implements modifications and provides reports or other consultation to management.
4. Contributes to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
5. Supervises and oversees maintenance of lab equipment and orders and supervises lab supplies.
6. Uses advanced knowledge of lab practices to direct and teach others by developing guidelines and conducting face-to-face/virtual training.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $49,004.80 - $95,500.00 annually

Requirements

• Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience
• OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
• OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

• Experienced researcher.
