Department: Lifeguard Dispatch FTE: 0.60 Part Time (20 - 29 hours per week) Shift: Rotating
Position Summary: Communicate information to appropriate individuals. Patient care protocols are delineated by the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Emergency Medical Service Board. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities: * COMMUNICATION - Communicate accurate information in a timely manner to appropriate departments and personnel * COVERAGE - Perform Physician Access Line services accurately documenting all related information when assigned to provide coverage * SERVICE - Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high quality service meeting or exceeding department customer service goals * DATABASE - Update and maintain computer database * DISASTER - Activate Hospitals disaster plan per policy in coordination with the Emergency Department, Hospitals management and the HSC * DISPATCH - Dispatch and coordinate flight transport requests * DOCUMENTATION - Provide accurate documentation of flight-following and dispatch activities * EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Monitor and stock supply areas; maintain equipment as appropriate * MEETINGS - Attend education sessions, department and other meetings as appropriate * MONITOR - Monitor Concern Network activities and provide flight follow-up * MONITOR - Perform continuous monitoring of radio medical channels and dispatch request line * MONITOR - Provide ongoing monitoring of incoming transfers and bed status * ORIENTATION - Assist in orienting new employees as required * PATIENT CARE - Assist in patient care activities in the Emergency Department during disaster or MCI incidents or other situations as needed * QUALITY - Participate in department quality programs * QUOTE - Provide quote information for prescheduled flights in conjunction with clerical support to requesting persons or agencies * STATUS - Monitor EMS system internet site for hospital divert status changes and update as needed; activate MCI protocols as situations arise and coordinate MCI communications * TRIAGE - Answer all incoming ambulance radio traffic; make preliminary determination of patient destination within the Hospital; activate specialty teams as needed * DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Qualifications
Education: Essential: * High School or GED Equivalent * Training Education specialization: Essential: * Nat Assoc Air Medical Communications Spec Trng w/in 1 Year
Experience: Essential: 2 years directly related experience

Credentials: Essential: * Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License
