The Triage Staff Nurse works under the supervision of the Medical Director to provide nursing services for both preventative health and urgent healthcare needs for students at Northeastern University, presenting to University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS). This role includes assisting with clinical operations and administrative tasks.
This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week. Four days a week or 5 days a week schedule may be possible. There are no call responsibilities. The schedule will include at least one evening per week and one Saturday (12-4) per month and a rotating schedule over holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's degree required in Nursing.
Certification Requirement:
Current Basic Life Support
Licensure requirements:
Active Nurse License for practice through the Massachusetts Board of Nursing
Previous experience as a Triage Nurse preferred or Nursing in a Fast-paced student-facing environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of Massachusetts Immunization Compliance preferred.
Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in ambulatory setting.
Experience in computer systems required, including web-based and Microsoft Office applications.
Fast-paced Triage experience
Demonstrated success in working inclusively in a highly diverse colleague and student setting.
Demonstrated ability to perform safely while engaged in sequential and simultaneous responsibilities in a busy outpatient clinical setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
On-site triage and care for students who walk in for urgent needs.
Answer live calls from students.
Provides telephone triage as well as follow-up for students after hospital or specialist visits.
Provide telephonic treatment information on medical cases per standing protocols.
Contact and follow up with students who have been transported to the hospital.
Demonstrate consistently courteous and empathetic treatment of students.
Call in and Refill prescriptions for providers.
Maintains safe and appropriate nursing procedures, practice, and clinical environment.
This includes but is not limited to inventory management, monitoring of vaccine storage processes, timely and thorough documentation, and monitoring of medical procedures, medication, and equipment.
Assisting with vaccinations/therapeutic injections and related duties.
Maintain safe and appropriate nursing procedures and practice.
Verify dosage and schedule of administration based on student's standing orders.
Assist in compliance with immunization database documentation (MIIS) as per requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Monitor and document the schedule of upkeep and inspection of medical devices.
Assists with select clinical operations and administrative tasks.
Maintains continuing education appropriate to licensure and job-related clinical activities.
Participate in University community outreach activities.
