Advanced Practice Clinician - NP Duties:
Performance expectations:
The Advanced Practice Clinician -NP works within the approved protocols established by Boynton Health and within the NPâ™s scope of practice or expertise.
Creating, maintaining patient record and documenting all aspects of the encounter including, but not limited to history, physical exam and treatment plan within the Electronic Health Record. Maintain compliance with Boynton Health policy that requires documentation of medical encounters within the Electronic Health Record
Clinical duties:
The scope of practice for the Advanced Practice Clinician-NP may include, but is not limited to the following for which privileges are granted annually, according to state law.
Taking patient histories.
Performing physical examinations including well visits/examinations.
Interpreting and evaluating patient data.
Ordering or performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures which may include, but are not limited to biopsy, minor surgery and wound care.
Prescribing, administering, dispensing prescription and nonprescription medications and medical devices.
Diagnosing and treating illnesses, infectious diseases, minor trauma, and chronic conditions or diseases.
Making patient referrals to other providers within Boynton and outside of Boynton to facilitate treatment plan, including severe mental illness..
Providing contraceptive services.
Educating patients on health promotion, disease prevention, current treatments, importance of patient compliance, and answering patient questions.
Arranging follow-up to review lab or test results with patients, via appointments, phone calls, letters, or secure message.
Working with the RN Case Manager, when indicated, to coordinate care of more complex patient problems
Consult with other physicians and/or health care professionals as needed to confirm difficult diagnosis and facilitate appropriate treatment plan, including severe mental illness..
Work as assigned in Gopher Quick Clinic to provide timely and quality episodic care for minor acute conditions.
Provide telehealth services as assigned
Other responsibilities as needed
Urgent Care Responsibilities:
The Urgent Care NP works within the approved Urgent Care protocols established by Boynton Health and within the NP's scope of practice or expertise.
The scope of practice for the Urgent Care NP may include, but is not limited to, the following:
Diagnosing and treating common, acute illnesses, infectious diseases andminor trauma
Evaluating and treating exacerbations ofchronic conditions or diseases.
Performing minor out-patient surgical procedures including, but not limited to:
I&D of abscesses and cysts
Placement of sutures/staples for lacerations
Removal of foreign bodies
Stabilizing and transferring patients to the Emergency Department for patients with emergent medical conditions.
Prescribing and ordering prescription and non-prescription medications.
Ordering and interpreting plain radiographs.
Ordering and interpreting laboratory studies
Ordering and interpreting EKGs
Ordering and dispensing durable medical equipment
Ordering IV Fluids, IM/IV Medications
Assessing acute mental health concerns and providing appropriate treatment or triage
Making patient referrals to other providers within Boynton and outside of Boynton to facilitate treatment plan, including severe mental illness..
Arranging follow-up appointment, phone calls or secure messaging to review test results with patients.

Ordering medications within the electronic health record
Ordering lab studies and imaging studies within the electronic health record
Ordering internal and external referrals within the electronic health record

Consult with physicians and/or health care professionals to confirm difficult diagnosis and facilitate appropriate treatment plan, including severe mental illness.
Other responsibilities as needed.
Professional Duties:

Required Qualifications:
Minnesota APRN license
Certification as an Adult or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner by a national agency recognized by the Minnesota Board of Nursing
Four years patient care experience in a hospital or clinic setting to include knowledge and skills appropriate to specific medical discipline
Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.

Management of Mental health, including ADHD
