The UC Irvine Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for a part-time Project Scientist to join Professor Arash Kheradvar's Research Group (https://kheradvar.eng.uci.edu/). Kheradvar Research Group (KLAB) pursues several projects related to cardiovascular science and engineering. The current projects are on research and development of heart valves, tissue engineering (3D tissue culture), biofluid mechanics, medical imaging, and image analysis (MRI and Echocardiography) and artificial intelligence/deep learning.
This position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or material science. Desired expertise for this position includes a minimum of 5-year R&D experience with polymeric components of medical devices, e.g., casting, extrusion, injection molding, and/or related experience. Expertise with heart valves is preferred but not necessary. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred as well as a strong interest in a research career.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
