In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
It's an exciting time for our Laboratory Medicine department as Memorial Sloan Kettering has moved to a new innovative laboratory medicine facility on East 64th Street between First and Second Avenues! The new Laboratory Medicine Building will improve operational efficiency, allowing the Laboratory Medicine team to provide test results faster and reduce the amount of blood needed from a patient to generate those results. Our innovative clinical laboratories provide sophisticated technology and automated equipment that allow our teams to get to answers faster and more efficiently, with a strong emphasis on applied and translational research. We are committed to the growth and advancement of the department and fully support the active collaboration of scientists, clinicians, and industry guides to develop next-generation laboratory methods. MSK is dedicated to providing diverse educational opportunities to develop the skills and ambitions of our medical technologists, laboratory managers, and laboratory directors. The Cell Therapy Lab Team at MSK will proudly support and train technologists without any prior cellular therapy experience to meet the growth of the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Services.
We are currently seeking expert Lab Technologist II within our Cellular Therapy Department
Independently perform sophisticated, specialized processing of Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell products and other cell-based therapies using aseptic technique
Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the lab's Standard Operating Procedures
Communicate and handle Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell product administration with clinicians
Work closely with sponsors and vendors of licensed and investigational cell-based therapies to coordinate logistics of cell collection, ship out, receipt, storage and infusion
Performs routine and sophisticated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and QC
Maintain and review accurate and detailed records
Adequately maintain inventory of reagents and supplies
Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assures a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area.
Manage the laboratory's physical environment following New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA, FACT, AABB, and CLIA regulations.
Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned
2+ years of experience in a laboratory (Hematology or Blood Bank experience preferred)
Bachelor's degree (Medical Technology, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences) required
An NYS Lab Technologist license
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays
